I have completed my online exam application but I changed my name since then. What do I need to do before I am permitted to sit for the exam?

Return to your online application with the Candidate ID Number supplied by your state board. Update your name on your application. Please notify your state board that your name has changed. Be sure that the identification you bring to the test site matches the name printed on your application and official approval letter.

Can I reconfirm my appointment before my testing date?

Yes. To reconfirm an appointment, a candidate may call the Prometric toll-free number, (800) 741-0934. Using the confirmation number provided when the appointment was scheduled, a candidate can reconfirm the date, time, and location of the appointment.

How will I find the local Prometric?

Candidates will receive a listing of Prometric centers along with their confirmation. Candidates may locate nearby testing centers here. Candidates may also access directions through Prometric’s automated phone system when calling the toll-free number (800) 741-0934.

What is the cost to candidates for the MFT national examination?

What information must be provided when I call to schedule my examination?
  • The name of the examination (The National Marital and Family Therapy Examination)
  • Where and when the candidate would like to test (location of Prometric and desired date)
  • Candidate ID Number
  • Name
  • Daytime telephone number
  • Type of payment: credit card or direct debit to a checking account
What are the acceptable forms of payment for the test administration fee?

Payment for MFT National Examination may be made by credit card. Payment of the exam fee must be made at the time the candidate applies for the examination.

What are the requirements for admission to the CBT testing center?

Candidates must arrive 30 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment. Candidates must have a currently valid, government-issued photo ID (passport, driver’s license, etc.), as well as A PRINTED COPY OF THE ELIGIBILITY NOTICE. A Social Security / Social Insurance card is not an acceptable form of identification. All testing sessions will be videotaped and audio-monitored.
