Appeals Policy and Procedure

It is the policy of the Association of Marital and Family Regulatory Boards (AMFTRB) to provide an appeal process to candidates who wish to contest any adverse decision or proposed action.

AMFTRB will accept appeals related to the following:

  1. Denial of a requested special accommodation when such accommodation is applied for in a timely manner and supported by the required documentation.
  2. A determination that the candidate has engaged in an irregularity at a test center and such determination has resulted in the candidate’s score being cancelled.
  3. A determination that the candidate has submitted false or misleading information on the examination application and the determination has resulted in the candidate not being approved to take the examination.
  4. The candidate’s mental state, including nervousness or anxiety, shall not be a basis for an appeal.
  5. The AMFTRB may elect to hear appeals related to matters that the AMFTRB determines in its sole discretion are proper subjects for appeal.

The appellant must notify the AMFTRB of the intent to appeal a determination or decision within thirty (30) days of receipt of such determination or decision.
